Orchid not in bloom.
The Chiloschista parishii 'Nakornpanom' is a fascinating leafless orchid from Thailand, where its green roots perform all the photosynthesis. This rare species produces 1-1.5cm yellow flowers with distinctive brownish-red spots and a charmingly "hairy" (pubescent) texture that helps identify it as true parishii . The intermediate skill level mainly reflects its unusual growth habit – once mounted correctly, care is straightforward. Thriving in warm 24-32°C summer temperatures with 60-80% humidity, it must be grown mounted on cork or tree fern, never in pots. Water by soaking and misting the roots, allowing them to dry between waterings. With a slightly cooler, drier winter rest, it rewards growers with delicate spring blooms and fascinating structure year-round.
