Orchid not in bloom.

Bare root

🔧 Skill Level: Intermediate – Suited for enthusiasts with some orchid experience.

🌍 Native: Hybrid; cultivated, not found in the wild. Cymbidium hybrids originate from a range of Cymbidium species found across Asia, from the Himalayas to tropical Southeast Asia.

⛰️ Elevations: Ideal at low to moderate elevations; suitable for temperate climates.

🪴 Size: Medium to Large; typically 18-24 inches in height when mature.

🎍 Perfect for Terrariums? No, Cymbidiums grow best in open air due to their size and light requirements.

☀️ Blooming Season: Winter to early spring, typically blooming once a year.

🌸 Bloom Size and Color: Large blooms, 3-4 inches in diameter, with an exquisite emerald green color. Blooms are often adorned with a darker lip or hints of red in the center.

👃 Fragrance: Light, pleasant fragrance, though not highly aromatic.

🌡 Temperature:

  • Summer☀️: High 27-30°C / Low 15-18°C
  • Winter❄️: High 18-22°C / Low 10-13°C
  • Prefers cool nights to stimulate blooming, especially in fall and winter.

💧 Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of the medium is dry, ensuring good drainage. Reduce frequency in winter, allowing the medium to dry slightly between waterings.

☁️ Humidity: 50-70%; humidity trays or misting can be beneficial, especially in drier conditions.

💡 Light: Bright, indirect light; ideally, 2,000-3,500 foot-candles. They do well in filtered light outdoors or near an east or west-facing window indoors. Too much direct sun can burn leaves.

🌰 Growing Medium: Well-draining orchid bark mix or a combination of bark and perlite. Avoid soil; Cymbidiums need aeration around their roots.

🧪 Fertilization: Fertilize biweekly during the growing season (spring to late summer) with a balanced orchid fertilizer (20-20-20). In fall, switch to a bloom-boosting formula (higher phosphorus) to encourage flowering.

Please note that these care instructions are based on general guidelines for Macradenia multiflora and may need adjustments based on your specific growing conditions and observations of your plant's health and behavior.
