Bare roots
Pink varieties of Rhynchostylis (commonly called fox-tail orchids) produce 25-35cm cascading flower spikes packed with fragrant pink blooms with darker spotting. These tropical giants thrive in warm 24-32°C conditions year-round with high humidity (70-85%), performing best when grown bare-root mounted on cedar plaques. Water daily during active growth (reducing frequency in winter), allowing the thick aerial roots to dry slightly between soakings. Provide bright filtered light (3,500-5,000 lux) - the sturdy leaves should feel firm and maintain light green coloration. Their intoxicating citrus-jasmine fragrance peaks at night during winter blooms, with flowers lasting 3-5 weeks. While demanding space (40-60cm leaf span), their spectacular floral displays make them prized collector's specimens.
