The Cymbidium Little Black Sambo 'Black Magic' is a prized compact hybrid producing 5-6cm near-black flowers with striking yellow lips. Thriving in cool conditions (24-30°C summers with winter nights at 5-10°C), this intermediate-level orchid requires bright filtered light (3,000-5,000 lux) and distinct seasonal changes to bloom. Grow in free-draining mix, watering heavily during growth but reducing in winter dormancy. The 'Black Magic' clone offers darker flowers than standard forms, with colour intensifying under proper chill periods. While rare in cultivation, its unusual colouration and spicy fragrance make it a standout for collectors. Provide high-potassium fertiliser in autumn to support winter flowering.
