The Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. dwarf is a compact form of this sun-loving terrestrial species, producing 2-3cm flowers on upright spikes in summer. It's not difficult if you remember two things: it needs much brighter light than standard phals (3,000-4,500 lux), and it requires a winter rest with reduced watering and cooler nights (15-18°C). Grow in a fine bark or sphagnum mix (not chunky bark), keeping it evenly moist during active growth. The dwarf form's compact 10-15cm size makes it perfect for terrariums or small displays. While the alba form is especially rare, all colour variants are uncommon outside specialist collections.
