The B. cucullata × C.(L.) tenebrosa is a rare intergeneric hybrid combining the elegant form of Brassia with the rich colouration of Cochlioda (Lemboglossum) tenebrosa. This medium-sized orchid (30-45cm) thrives in cool 20-26°C summer temperatures with a essential winter drop to 10-14°C nights to trigger its autumn flowering. Grow in a moisture-retentive mix of fine bark and sphagnum, providing bright filtered light (3,000-4,000 lux) and high humidity (65-80%). The 8-12cm bronze-red flowers exhibit a unique spider-like form with an unusual chocolate-spice fragrance that intensifies in evening hours. While rare in cultivation due to complex parentage, this hybrid offers greater adaptability than either species, making it a prized specimen for experienced growers.
