Orchid not in bloom.

The Cattleya walkeriana var. blue × sib represents one of the orchid world's most coveted treasures, producing 8-10cm crystalline lavender-blue flowers with an intoxicating sweet-spicy fragrance. Native to Brazil's cerrado regions, this compact orchid (15-25cm) thrives in bright, airy conditions with a pronounced dry winter rest. Grow in exceptionally coarse, rocky mix to prevent root rot, providing strong light (4,000-6,000 lux) and cool nights (12-16°C) to intensify its rare blue coloration. While trophy-status specimens command significant attention from collectors, their specific cultural requirements—including distinct seasonal changes—make them most suitable for experienced growers. Flowers typically appear twice yearly when plants receive proper rest periods between growth cycles.
