Orchid not in bloom.

The Ascocentrum curvifolium is a vibrant miniature vandaceous orchid producing 8-15cm upright spikes of brilliant orange-red flowers in spring. Native to Southeast Asia's seasonal forests, this compact epiphyte (15-50cm) thrives in warm, humid conditions (24-32°C days, 70-85% humidity) and should be mounted bare-root to accommodate its extensive aerial roots. Water with daily misting plus biweekly soaking, using rainwater to prevent salt damage to its sensitive root system. Provide bright filtered light (3,000-4,500 lux) - the curved, fleshy leaves should remain turgid and deeply coloured. While uncommon in mass cultivation, its cheerful blooms and manageable size make it ideal for intermediate growers with terrariums or orchidariums.
