The Platycerium ridleyi var. Dwarf & Compact is a rare miniature form of the Asian staghorn fern, prized for its distinctive kidney-shaped shield fronds and manageable 20-30cm size. Native to Borneo's lowland rainforests, it thrives in warm 24-32°C temperatures with very high humidity (70-90%). The intermediate skill level simply reflects its mounting requirement – like all staghorns, it must be grown on wood or fern slabs, not in pots. Provide bright filtered light (3,000-4,500 lux) and daily misting to develop perfect shield fronds. Its compact dwarf form makes it ideal for small spaces where the standard species would overwhelm. A true collector's piece for fern enthusiasts.
These care guidelines are based on general information and may need adjustments based on your specific growing conditions and the needs of your individual plant.
