Bare roots
The Rhynchostylis Big Spot is a striking hybrid celebrated for its 25-35cm flower spikes covered in white blooms with dramatic 1-2cm burgundy spots. This large vandaceous orchid (40-60cm leaf span) thrives in warm, humid conditions (24-32°C, 70-85% humidity) and is best grown bare-root mounted to accommodate its extensive aerial root system. Water daily during active growth, allowing roots to dry slightly between soakings, and provide bright filtered light (3,500-5,000 lux) to maximise spot development. Its night-time sweet-spicy fragrance and impressive floral display make it a rare collector's item, particularly valued for the consistent large spotting pattern that gives this hybrid its name.
