The Rhynchostylis Red is a spectacular hybrid prized for its 25-35cm cascading spikes of deep red to burgundy flowers with an intoxicating sweet-spicy fragrance. This tropical giant thrives in warm 24-32°C conditions year-round with high humidity (70-85%), performing best when grown bare-root mounted on cork plaques or in slatted baskets. Water daily during active growth (reducing frequency in winter), allowing the thick aerial roots to dry slightly between soakings. Provide bright filtered light (3,500-5,000 lux) - the sturdy leaves should remain firm and upright. Its rare colouration among Rhynchostylis hybrids makes it a coveted specimen for collectors, with flowers lasting 4-6 weeks during winter displays.
