The Rlc. Dick Smith 'Paradise' is a spectacular cattleya hybrid producing 12-15cm lavender-purple flowers with a velvety darker lip and intoxicating sweet-spicy fragrance that fills an entire room. This select clone is surprisingly easy to grow – the intermediate skill level simply reflects its need for good light (3,500-4,500 lux) to bloom its best. Place it in a bright east or west window, water when the bark mix dries out, and it will reward you with spring flowers year after year. The fragrance is strongest on sunny mornings, making it a delight near seating areas. With 30-45cm pseudobulbs, it needs space but not fussy care – perfect for growers ready to try something beyond basic Phalaenopsis.
