Bare roots
The Vanda lilac is a charming Philippine species prized for its 4-5cm soft lilac flowers with delicate purple veining and sweet floral fragrance. This intermediate-level Vanda thrives in warm 24-32°C temperatures year-round with high humidity (70-85%), best grown bare-root in slatted baskets or mounted to accommodate its extensive aerial roots. Water daily in summer (reducing slightly in winter), and provide bright filtered light (4,000-6,000 lux) – the leaves should be medium green and firm. Its limited availability from sustainable sources makes it a sought-after specimen for collectors, with flowers appearing reliably each spring when given proper care.
