The Anoectochilus sp. (jewel orchid) is treasured for its velvet-textured leaves with luminous metallic veining rather than its modest white flowers. Native to Southeast Asian forest floors, it thrives in stable 18-26°C temperatures with high humidity (70-85%) – making it perfect for terrariums. The intermediate skill level simply reflects its need for rainwater only and consistent moisture, not complicated care. Grow in rich, terrestrial soil mix under very low light (300-800 lux) – direct sun will scorch those beautiful leaves. Different species vary in vein colour (gold, silver, red or pink), but all share the same care requirements. Their compact 10-25cm size makes them ideal for desks, shelves or terrariums.
These care guidelines are based on general information and may need adjustments based on your specific growing conditions and the needs of your individual plant.
