The Aspidogyne argentea is a trophy-status jewel orchid coveted for its metallic silver-veined foliage rather than its modest white flowers. This Central American terrestrial thrives in warm, humid terrariums (22-28°C, 75-90% humidity) with calcium-rich substrates - grow in living sphagnum over limestone chips for optimal results. Unlike most orchids, it requires extremely low light (500-800 lux) to prevent leaf burn while enhancing its spectacular veining. With fewer than 10 commercial sources worldwide, this slow-growing miniature (8-15cm) demands patience but rewards growers with one of the most striking foliage displays in the orchid world. Water with rainwater or distilled water to prevent mineral deposits on leaves.
These care guidelines are based on general information for Phalaenopsis orchids and may need adjustments based on your specific growing conditions and the needs of your individual plant.
