The L. discolor var. nigrescens × A. siamensis 'Red Velvet' is a stunning hybrid combining the best traits of two jewel orchid genera, producing velvet-textured burgundy-black leaves with delicate pink veining. This rare hybrid benefits from hybrid vigour, making it more adaptable than its pure Anoectochilus parent while maintaining spectacular foliage. Thriving in warm 20-28°C temperatures with high humidity (75-90%), it's perfect for terrariums or indoor displays. The intermediate skill level simply reflects its need for consistent moisture and warmth – easily achieved in enclosed setups. Grow in rich, open mix under very low light (300-800 lux) to intensify the dark leaf colour. Its compact 15-25cm trailing habit makes it ideal for small spaces, while its rare status appeals to serious collectors.
