The Cattleya Memoria Robert Strait 'Islander Delights' AM/AOS is an awarded orchid hybrid renowned for its 10–15cm fragrant white flowers with striking raspberry-red flaring and an intense sweet floral perfume . Registered in 1990, this cross between C. walkeriana and Lc. Wayndora produces compact, unifoliate plants that bloom in spring to summer with 3–5 flowers per spike . It is considered intermediate in difficulty because it requires bright light (leaves should be light olive-green), a distinct wet/dry cycle (allow medium to dry completely between waterings), and a 10–15°C nighttime temperature drop to initiate flowering . The 'Islander Delights' clone received an AM/AOS award, confirming its exceptional quality . Grow in an extremely coarse, open mix (large bark, lava rock, charcoal) or mounted, and fertilise weekly at ¼ strength during active growth . This orchid may skip a year of blooming if stressed by repotting or underwatering, but with patient, consistent care, it rewards growers with spectacular flowers .
