The Rby. Copper Queen 'Ruby Lip' HCC/AOS is an award-winning hybrid from the Cattleya alliance, produced by crossing Rlc. Toshie Aoki with Bc. Richard Mueller . It produces 3-4.5 inch burnt orange flowers with a distinctive white lip dotted in raspberry — the flowers open vibrant orange and fade to yellow as they mature . This cultivar holds the distinction of being the first Copper Queen to receive an AOS award (HCC/AOS), making it a special find for collectors . It grows well under standard Cattleya conditions — bright light (3,000-5,000 fc), cool nights (13-16°C) and warm days (21-29°C), with a 15-20°F day/night temperature differential that helps it bloom . Like many Cattleya hybrids, it needs to dry out between waterings and thrives with good air movement . With Brassavola nodosa in its background (around 25%), it benefits from slightly brighter light than typical Cattleyas . The blooms are also fragrant, adding to its appeal .
