The Rhynchostylis gigantea var. red × sib is a prized sibling cross of Southeast Asia's iconic "fox-tail" orchid, producing 25-35cm cascading spikes of fragrant, deep red flowers with white speckling. Thriving in consistent warmth (24-32°C) and high humidity (70-85%), this large epiphyte demands daily summer watering when grown bare-root on mounts. Its intoxicating grape-like fragrance peaks at night during winter blooms, with flower spikes developing best under bright filtered light (3,000-4,500 lux). While rare in cultivation due to limited red-form propagation, its dramatic presentation and vigorous growth reward experienced growers. Maintain excellent air circulation to prevent fungal issues in its dense foliage.
